Pricing questions, answered straight
- Is the Free tier really free forever?
- Yes. No credit card, no trial window, no pageview cap. The small "Powered by SmartGenie" badge appears on the banner, and that's the only visible difference from Pro. Free covers all 11 regulations, unlimited domains, and unlimited pageviews.
- What counts as a domain?
- Pro is £9/month per registered root domain (e.g. smartgenie.co.uk). Subdomains like app.smartgenie.co.uk and www.smartgenie.co.uk count as the same domain. Different root domains (smartgenie.co.uk, smartgenie.io) are separate.
- Why no pageview caps or overage charges?
- The banner runs entirely in the visitor's browser — we don't charge per impression because each load costs us nothing incremental. That's how the pricing stays flat regardless of whether you get 1,000 or 10,000,000 visits a month.
- Can I cancel anytime?
- Yes. Cancel from the dashboard and you won't be billed next cycle. Your banner keeps running on the Free tier automatically — you won't be kicked off, you just lose the Pro-only features (geo-targeting, translation, analytics, record of consent).
- Is there an annual discount?
- Pro Annual at £89/year (save ~18%) is planned. Until it's live, everyone who starts on monthly will be offered the annual option at the same protected rate once it ships.
- Do you store my record of consent?
- Pro stores consent logs with timestamp, jurisdiction, banner version, and visitor IP hash (GDPR Article 7 requirement). Retained for 24 months by default and exportable via webhook. Free does not include record of consent storage.
- How does this compare to Cookiebot or CookieYes?
- Different pricing model. Cookiebot charges per domain tiered on subpage count; CookieYes charges per domain tiered on pageviews with per-1,000-pageview overage. SmartConsent Pro is a flat price for unlimited domains regardless of traffic. The full side-by-side is on the Alternatives page.
- What payment methods are accepted?
